Congratulations to Troop 86!

Team Turkey (Troop 86) took the Gold medal in the regular scout patrol division, and will be your hosts for the 2011 Klondike Derby!

In the first year scout category, Team Canada (Troop 108) took the gold and Team Australia (Pack 192) took gold in the WEBELOS Scout division.

Team Nepal grabbed special honor for fastest fire in the WEBELOS fire building competition.

Congratulations to Team Switzerland (Troop 96) on their dessert caper: a stunning array of non-imported chocolate and domestic Swiss cheese took first place in the scoutmaster's desert competition. Finalist in the gateway competition included Italy, Canada and Germany with best gateway going to Germany Venturing Crew 3:16.

2010 Klondike Questionnaire

Possible questions are taken from the fun facts at each host site - (20 questions from the following will require correct answers at France).

You can research the answers on the Internet at various sites – links are located on the Klondike Derby site at www.klondikederby.org. If you find all the answers stop at France first and fill out the questionnaire -- you’ll save some time. Otherwise, the missing words can be found at the host sites and at Inukshuk Square.

7:00 AM All host volunteers arrive and set up sites.

7:30 AM – 9:00 AM All Boy Scout teams arrive and check-in.

8:45 AM - 9:00 AM All Webelos teams arrive and report directly to the Arena for the Opening Ceremonies.

9:10 AM All Host Site flag bearers and torch relay participants report to Olympic Village Gateway and Inukshuk Square.

9:00 AM - 9:15 AM Opening Ceremonies at the Arena.

Boy Scout Rules

Boy Scout Rules

1. Every sled team will consist of at least four scouts but no more than eight scouts.

2. Sled design should be creative, but no wheels or motors are permitted.

3. Registration will begin at 8:15 AM at the “Olympic Lodge”.

4. Teams may not begin until after they have been checked in and the derby is officially started following the torch lighting ceremony.

5. Every member of the sled team must remain with their sled at all times during the Klondike Derby.

Olympic and Scout Lore Questions

The list of 60 potential questions that will be asked at France will be posted on Saturday night 1/16/2010 at 8:00 PM. This should give everyone an even shot at researching the answer. Web sites will be posted to help with the research. But don't get too caught up in it -- all the facts will be posted at the derby host sites and at Inukshuk Square.

Please know what an Inukshuk is so you'll know it when you see it!
